This blog is dedicated to the open exchange of ideas, opinions and issues which affect those who have an interest in the Greater Point Pleasant Beach Area. It is our hope that over time we will see more transparency in government through the use of the web technologies available to all.

This latest trash ordinance restricting trash pickup to 6 cans for motels and apartments is an example of a council that is not knowledgeable about the industries within their community and continued attack on these industries. Hotels pay for additional services by way of our occupancy tax (3%) of our gross sales directly to Pt. Pleasant Beach. Our hotel guests do not burden our town. They shop in our shops, eat in our restaurants; visit our beach, boardwalk and amusement park. Is it too much to ask that hotels continue to receive trash picked up daily during the summer months? We dealt with this issue this season when without notification our trash was left out for pickup and not picked up, taking weeks to resolve. We are avid recyclers and have reduced our trash through this effort. Our town picks up garbage at least 2 or 3 times a week at Silver Lake Parking Lot however refused to pick our trash while driving right past our location. In August a new ordinance requires trash be placed in trash cans (will be interesting watching these cans flying around town all year long). Why doesn't some of our council members try to be more business friendly and stop trying to burden us.
Typical Ocean County government, catering to their own agenda and not the needs of the residents or business owners.
i would rather have the garbage from the business in town receive thier needed pick up and have residential pick up down to once per week. i never put my garbage out for both pick up days. i have less garbage because of recycling.
